Constance Baker Motley. Fisk University attendee. New York University graduate. Columbia University law School grad. Talk about a force. She held many firsts in her legal life. 1st Black woman appointed to be federally appointed to a federal bench. 1st Black woman to argue a case before the U. S. Supreme Court. Manhattan 1st black borough president. First. First. First. All around. Once confirmed for her position at the United States District Court for the the Southern District of new York, she commanded the bench until her death in 2005.
